A Short Jaunt in the Sierra de Grazalema

The Sierra de Grazalema is a beautiful, rocky, sheep-strewn area possessed of a unique ecology no doubt partially due to the amount of precipitation it receives. It is part of a park system that boasts numerous well-used trails. This was the first of several visits that left us wishing we had even more time to spend here.

This trail led through a cork-oak forest.

While lunch is prepared, the children begin to gather rocks for the construction of a fort; after all, Spain seems full of them, why not build one more?

Soren carefully negotiates the direct route across a muddy spot.

Breaking out of the forest and into the pasture.

Some of the many rocks we noticed.
